Congratulations to Sailor and Mack as we welcome 7 beautiful, healthy puppies to the Wheatley Waterdog family.
3 girls and 4 boys ... all are eating, sleeping and wriggling around while their mom (Sailor) cares for them.
Sailor was 3 days early and unfortunately I was in Calgary when Mike called to say Sailor was in labour. Historically she had never been that early so I thought my risk was minimal.
It was 5:45 p.m. when her contractions started and I received the call from Mike. I had just arrived at a Calgary Stampede event called the "Roundup". It's an annual must attend outdoor concert that I take 20 of my clients to along with 17,000 other people. Shortly after I arrived I received Mike's call and immediately called Air Canada to see if I could catch an earlier flight. I was already booked on the red eye at midnight in an effort to make it home as quickly as possible which would still be 2 days before her due date of July 16th. Unfortunately, there was nothing earlier and I struggled knowing that I was going to miss the delivery of Sailor's last litter. By the time I called Mike back to tell him that I wasn't able to come home in time, the first puppy had already arrived. The best I could do for him was to call in some additional assistance to lend a hand ... so I immediately sent a text to Christine Pitcher ... it said quite simply ... HELP!
So in my absence, the team formed rather quickly and everyone had their role to play.
Amanda replaced me in the delivery assistance and general care of Sailor.
Amanda
Mike took care of the logistics, tools, supplies and overall organization.
Emma and Christine Pitcher took care of the puppies.
Emma and Chris
Irene Dixon brought the food to keep everyone going and did whatever duties she was called upon to perform.
Irene
Aaron Pitcher even dropped by to make a Tim Horton's delivery.
Thanks Aaron!
While I was terribly disappointed that I was not here for the delivery, it was rather exciting to get the text and photo updates of the progress ... everyone I was with was caught up in the action awaiting the next breaking news flash "black boy 12 oz and beautiful" this helped keep my tears at bay. By the time I left the Roundup, all the puppies had been born and I was off to the airport to catch the red eye home and was so thrilled to meet the new puppies.

Thank you everyone for the wonderful care you provided for Sailor and her puppies.
Special thanks to Mari Szaueropf(Drewsar) for another great breeding with Mack, they certainly make wonderful puppies together.
