Oshun's Born To Sniff

The Inspiration

The theme for this litter was inspired by the most power sense that dogs are blessed with "smell".  A dog's nose not only dominates their face, but their brain, as well.  In fact, a dog relies on her sense of smell to interpret her world, in much the same way as people depend on their sight.

This theme is a celebration of this brilliant sense of smell.

Did you know ... that as clean as you are, and as much soap and perfume and deodorant you wear, you are still splendidly stinky to your dog. Every human has a unique scent fingerprint, and that’s pretty much everything a dog needs to tell one person from another.

The Experience

Born June 13, 2015, two days earlier than Oshun's due date.

Only one day after Neiva delivered her litter, Oshun made plans for our Saturday evening early by making it clear she was in labour early in the morning by throwing up her breakfast.  She too spent the day labouring, breathing heavy and panting while trying to rest and gave us plenty of time to plan.

Marianne and Bob arrived in plenty of time to assist.  She began to prepare for her first puppy's arrival around 9:30 p.m. and like Neiva, preferred to just lay on her side and push from that position. While finding several of the larger puppies quite painful, she delivered each with relative ease.

It was at 11:11 that things got real exciting when our first 100% all white puppy was born.

Bob, who was the scribe for the event, writing down every detail as spoken by me during the delivery, had a hard time keeping up when she was born.  I kept repeating "OMG" "OMG" OMFingG".  Very exciting indeed !!!

She finished up in the wee hours of the morning and I cannot thank Marianne, Bob and Mike for all of your assistance and support throughout.

Way to go Oshie!!!
